About Us

At Kingdoms Of The Horn ( KOTH ) we offer soulful candles inspired by ancient scents from East Africa.

Our mission is to ignite the spirit of adventure through the power of visceral sensations that transport you through food, culture, land, and the people of East Africa. We hope to encourage people to explore this part of the world that is home to many indigenous treasures.

Our Name

We chose Kingdoms Of The Horn to celebrate the different countries of East Africa that once occupied several powerful empires. From the Ajuran Empire, Aksum Empire, and later the Solomonid Monarchy.
Our curated collection is a culmination of an obsession with history, art, travel, and selecting the finest fragrances indigenous to East Africa.

Our Candles

We believe the soul of a candle comes from the intention with which it is created and the attention with which it is prepared. As such, our handcrafted candles are made with these ingredients: 100% soy wax, 100% lead-free cotton wicks, and the highest quality blend of paraben-phthalate free fragrance and essential oils.

At KOTH, we care about our environment. We try to make an effort to use sustainable, renewable resources, and biodegradable packaging as best we can to reduce our ecological footprint. We also focus on small batch productions to ensure that no excess waste is created and that each candle gets the special care it needs. In the near future, we hope to collaborate with environmental conservation initiatives to continue our learning in green practices and give back to our beautiful planet.

We sincerely thank you for making the conscious decision to support a local small business. By choosing to shop local handcrafted candles over mass produced candles from large corporations, you are not only reducing the environmental impact that mass candle corporations have in our environment - you are making a significant impact on a small business, building your local economy, and reinforcing the spirit of your city. That's definitely something to be proud of! :)

Without your continued support and encouragement, I wouldn't be able to do what I love to do everyday. Every candle I make is a labour of love and an emotional journey that transports me to my favourite childhood memories in Djibouti and Addis Abeba - it connects me even more to my beloved grandmother who taught me everything about fragrances, so thank you!
