About Us

Founded in Toronto, Canada, Kingdoms Of The Horn ( KOTH ) is a hand poured uniquely fragranced candles inspired by East Africa.

Our curated collection has one mission. To help you awaken your sense of adventure and transport you to a moment in time - and a place - particularly have  a olfactory experience via East African food and culture. Our minimalist label ensures our candles will flow seamlessly into your space. Each candle is fittingly named to highlight the scent experience that awaits you. We hope to encourage people to explore this part of the world that is home to many pristine treasures.

Our Name

We chose Kingdoms Of The Horn to celebrate the ancient kingdoms that spanned what we now know as Ethiopia, Eritrea, Somalia, and Tanzania.  From the Ajuran Empire, Aksum Empire, and later the Solomonid Monarchy.

Our Candles

We believe the soul of a candle comes from the intention with which it is created and the attention with which it is prepared. As such, our handcrafted candles are made with these ingredients: 100% soy wax, 100% lead-free cotton wicks, and the highest quality blend of paraben-phthalate free fragrance and essential oils. Each candle is fittingly named to highlight the scent experience that awaits you.

KOTH is an environmentally conscious brand. We are always thinking about the best options to reduce waste and opting for sustainable, renewable resources, and biodegradable packaging as best we can. We also focus on small batch production to ensure that no excess waste is created and that each candle gets the special care it needs. As we scale, we hope to collaborate with conservation projects to donate a portion of our sales to wildlife conservation projects here in Canada as well as in East Africa. For now, we are committed to learning green practices - using cruelty free materials and less packaging.

 〰〰〰

We sincerely thank you for making the conscious decision to support a local small business. By choosing to shop local handcrafted candles over mass produced candles from large corporations, you are not only reducing the environmental impact that mass candle corporations have in our environment, you are making a significant impact on a small business - building your local economy - reinforcing the spirit of your city. That's definitely something to be proud of! :)

Without your continued support and encouragement, I would not be able to do what I love to do everyday. Create, create, and get better at doing it the day before. Every candle I make is a labour of love and an emotional journey that transports me back to my favourite childhood memories from Djibouti and Addis Abeba.  Every candle makes me feel more connected to my East African heritage and my beloved grandmother who taught me everything I know about fine fragrances, so thank you!
